The Malaysian Wood Industries Association [MWIA] formerly known as Timber Trade Federation Malaysia was established on 1957 is a voluntary association comprising of seven  State Associations in Peninsular Malaysia. Originally comprising of mainly sawmillers in Peninsular Malaysia, MWIA now represents members with diversified business interests covering the whole range of upstream and downstream activities in the timber industry with the change of name in 2000.

The general objective of Malaysian Wood Industries Association is to promote foster of the interests of the timber industry. In discharging its responsibilities, MWIA has established a close rapport with the Government and its agencies. Our representatives are sitting on the Board of Management of The Malaysian Timber Industry Board [MTIB], The Malaysian Timber Council [MTC].
‘It is a privilege and honour to be elected President of MWIA, an association with a long and rich history helmed by very able and dedicated past presidents and their committees.
The timber industry is characterised by its resilience and going forward, it will enter its most challenging period yet. It is my hope that we can forge a sustainable future for the industry by working closely with the our fellow associations and the other stakeholders. I look forward to pooling the resources of MWIA’s members to achieve this goal.’
